Mild, refreshing taste, slightly sweet with a subtle tanginess, similar to a mix between a kiwi and a pear, but not overly sweet; Enjoy chilled, slightly crunchy texture due to its tiny black seeds.
Maui Dragon Fruit is a Selenicereus Undatus variety. The plant is fast to adapt and an aggressive grower, growing at least 6 feet per year.
Flowers on this variety typically start in June like most S. Undatus. The fruit is beautiful, almost fake looking with bright pink skin and deep green fins. Heavy producer, typically with over 12 fruit its first fruiting cycle. Fruits ranged from 1 to 1.5 pounds. The fruit was not only visually appealing, but they had a nice refreshing taste too. These fruits tested with a brix rating ranging from 13 to 14, so not much sweetness when compared to other varieties. Instead, it was quite tangy and even better chilled.
